About
Health Insurance is a topic that many people don’t worry about until it is too late. Who needs to understand the complexities of health insurance if you’re not sick? Unfortunately, you just never know when a sudden illness or accident can strike, and if you don’t have health insurance or don’t understand how to get the most out of it, you’ll be stuck with medical bills you’ll be paying off for the rest of your life.
The purpose of this blog is to help people understand the complexities of getting, keeping, and using health insurance. I know first hand how important this is. About three years ago, my left lung collapsed after I went jet skiing. It turned out that I had a cyst of unknown origin in my lung that went undetected for a decade. I was not a smoker, so to this day no one knows why this cyst appeared. But the end result was that I had to have a costly lung operation where they removed the part of my lung where the cyst was. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks, with a week of that being in intensive care. Thankfully, I’m fine now, no lasting damage at all. But if I hadn’t had good health insurance, my medical bills would have come to about $80,000.
So, it’s a good idea for everyone to understand how to get health insurance to be prepared if something like this happens to you.
